Have you ever seen a workout face this serious?!

On Wednesday evening my lovely new activewear set from The Upside got well and truly drenched in sweat. Sexy, right?! The reason for this was the launch of Bootcamp Pilates‘ HIIP class – that stands for High Intensity Interval Pilates.

You all know I love a good sweat session, so this was right up my street. Imagine 55 minutes of cardio, plyometrics and resistance training, all done in a Pilates style.

For those of you who have never tried Pilates before might be thinking this class isn’t for you, but you’re wrong. I had never set foot into a Pilates class or onto one of the reformer pilates machines prior to this class, but with one PT taking the class and another walking around correcting technique, I got the hang of it very quickly. It turns out the reformer machines aren’t as scary as I thought they were going to be…. well, that was my thinking until the morning after when I woke up with some super-duper DOMS.

Always the tomato face of the pack!

Always the tomato face of the pack!

The class was made up of exercises both on and off  the reformer using weights for a couple of the exercises and a snazzy little Pilates hoop that you squeeze in and out for others. There’s no doubt about it, I definitely got a full body workout. The class was constantly challenging, even up to the stretch at the end where I STILL continued to sweat. Don’t worry I cleaned my machine!

Concentration!

Concentration!

Bootcamp Pilates offer a number of other class styles, like Bootcamp Barre and TRX, if you’re still not sure this is the one for you. I’m booking in for a standard reformer Pilates class soon, as I want to learn the basics.

Have you ever seen a more serious workout face!?

Have you ever seen a more serious workout face!? Haha, I look mental!

Classes are £19 for off-peak and £27 for peak, but Bootcamp Pilates have a great introductory offer of two off-peak classes for £12 – a great way to get a feel for the workout on a budget. If you like a good sweat session and a full-body workout, then I definitely recommend giving it a try.

They currently have four studios in London – Old Street, Richmond, Fulham and Notting Hill, so hopefully you’ll be able to get down to a class soon.

At the end of the class we also got a lovely goody bag with treats from Every Second Counts (who I’ll be featuring on the blog very soon!), Zico, Batiste, Sleek make-up, LucyBee and Primal Kitchen (so yummy!) – best bag of treats ever!

Have fun and, as always, SWEAT! x
