Another blogger writing another 2017 reflections blog post… yep, keep reading! 😉
In October 2016 I had a one-to-one session with an astrologist, who told me that 2017 would be the toughest year of my life so far, but that 2019 would see the start of my seven years of totality. I would like to say that I understood everything he told me and did lots of research after the session to work out exactly what he meant. I didn’t. But the statement about 2017 being a hard year stayed with me.
I’m a very open minded person, but I’m also strong-willed and I know that I have the power to make good choices and positive changes. Despite a few tough times (which I’m sure most people in the world will have), 2017 has actually been one of the best years of my life so far!
Before I go into my 2017 reflections, I want to share some photos of my favourite memories from the year…
– Started teaching group classes in London – Visiting Finland and Lapland – Bali and its smoothie bowls stole my heart –
– My first ever retreat! – Running a retreat with my babe, Carly Rowena – Hiking in Switzerland with Rob – Shooting and being an ambassador for Reebok –
– Lululemon immersion trip – LA trip and photoshoot with The Body Shop – I turned 30! – Holiday in Menorca with Rob –
– Teaching for Vaara in the Maldives – Teaching my Portugal retreat – Bouldering – Snorkelling in the Great Barrier Reef –
– Hiking in Australia – Teaching yoga workshops – Vegan Christmas roast dinner – Wales with my family (happening right now! –
WHAT 2017 HAS TAUGHT ME:
I love my jobs! I honestly wake up most days and can’t believe I get to teach yoga, blog, create videos, travel and design jewellery. Even when it gets on top of me and I’m shattered, I’m so grateful to be where I am.
Social media is a wonderful place if you use it wisely. You’ll meet wonderful people and people who might not understand your vibe through it. I just accept that everyone has their own thing going on.
You can’t please everyone and that’s OK.
An advanced physical yoga practice doesn’t make you a ‘pro yogi’. It’s the work that happens off the mat that counts the most.
I love bouldering! If you haven’t tried it, give it a go. It’s hard work, but SO much fun!
Breath work is my saviour. Breathing techniques get me through the small stresses and anxious moments in life that come to me every single day.
Having therapy for my mental health is something to be proud of. I will happily speak loud and proud about it, because it’s so valuable and has helped me understand so much.
Running yoga retreats fills my heart and soul. I’m so excited for my 2018 retreats!
Relationships can be hard. You have to work at them as a unit, connecting through open conversation. When you love someone, the tough times are so worth a little bit of work.
I need a puppy in my life. Although let’s be honest, I’ve known that for years!
A plant-based diet is extremely delicious! It just needs some research, education and dedication.
In 2018 I want to work with children more. After working with the HITZ project kids earlier this month, I’m so excited to go back and see them again.
Thank you so much for all of your support this year. Even if you’re one of the quiet ones who never comments, but is always there liking and reading my posts, I’m so grateful for every single one of you. And to those of you who I chat to, keep chatting to me. I have love for every single one of you all! THANK YOU.
HAPPY NEW YEAR!
Comment below and tell me your 2017 reflections and what 2017 has taught you.
