HEALTH & WELLBEING: THE MEANING OF GEMSTONES

As well as being a jewellery designer, Cat is a health & fitness writer and soon-to-be yoga instructor. Because of this she has always had a keen interest in the meaning of stones and how they can help with general wellbeing in day-to-day life. The stones in this collection were chosen not only because they are all personal favourites of Cat's, but because they can offer such power and strength to a person.

TURQUOISE

Turquoise is one of the oldest protection stones, and was also known as a symbol of wealth in many ancient cultures. The main characteristics of turquoise include strength, protection from harm, psychic sensitivity and connection to the spirit world. Along with these features, turquoise is said to be the symbol of friendship, protecting the recipient of a turquoise gift from negative energy and bringing them good fortune.

Of all the stones, turquoise is the one that has the most powers associated to it, alleviating pain, relaxing cramps and containing anti-inflammatory & detoxifying effects.

ONYX

Onyx is the stone known for its ability to help a person separate emotions. It can help release negative emotions such as sorrow and grief, guarding the wearer against negativity.

Onyx can sooth nervousness, calm stress and panic, sooth negative moods and bring the wearer reason to love. It works through the first, third and sixth chakras, the seats of physical vitality, will and mental activity. It's the best stone to take with you into stressful or tough situations, as it will help you keep cool under pressure.

JADE

Jade is an ancient stone that has historically been used to attract love. It’s been known to bring money into your life, along with creating a positive attitude towards said fortune and helping you visualise using it creatively and wisely, whilst helping you think clearly.

The soothing green colour of jade makes it a wonderful healing stone, as it balances Anahata, the Heart Chakra, aiding in both emotional and physical well-being.

CORAL

Coral symbolises life and blood force energy, making it a good aid for meditation and visualisation. Pink shades of coral restore harmony to the heart and are used to help fight depression, lethargy or deficient nutrition.

Records dating back thousands of years confirm that coral was believed to prevent ill fortune and offer protection from skin disease when worn as a necklace.

LAPIS LAZULI

When working or meditating with Lapis Lazuli, it can bring matters more clearly to the mind. It’s one of the most powerful stones and should be used with care. The ancient Egyptians used Lapis Lazuli as a symbol of wisdom and truth, which is what it is still highly regarded for today.

Lapis Lazuli has high intensity and can open many of the chakra centres. This must be done only with love in the heart, comprehension in the mind and wisdom in soul.

OPAL

Not only is opal Cat's personal favourite stone, but it is said to be many things including the most powerful of healing stones, the stone of hope, the stone of great achievement and even the "stone of the Gods".

Opal is in fact it's the stone of love, but only for faithful lovers. The opal will bring misfortune to an unfaithful lover, which is the only reason why some have said it is unlucky.

Emotionally, opal brings its water energy to enhance self-esteem and sense of self-worth. It can help bring these to the surface of your life in spite of anything else going on under the surface. This aligned with the inspiring love energies can help you release damaging inhibitions and access your true spiritual nature. Opal is also used to bring happy dreams and avoid nightmares. It is a soothing stone, which can calm turbulent emotions and bring a deep sense of hope and inner peace.

These pieces may be beautiful jewels with pretty stones, but they also have qualities that can enhance your life.
